Hiking and the Beach

Yesterday Husband and I took Little to the beach for the first time.  We decided to start our day with a short hike on the coast.  We have been taking Little hiking since she was a few weeks old.

This is a picture of Little's first hike.

When she was younger, we always had her in the Baby Bjorn, initially facing in and later looking out.

Here Little is about 4 months old.

Since Little is getting big, we decided to try a backpack for her yesterday.  Husband carried it on our hike and Little really seemed to  like it most of the time.  We love being outdoors so it is really important for us to have ways to bring Little with us.

We did get off the trail we had intended to take and we ended up hiking close to 10 miles.  We ran out of water and we hadn't planned on being gone that long so we got a bit hungry.

Getting back to the car was a relief.  We went to the beach for a bit to miss the traffic on the drive home.  The ocean is only about 50 degrees at the beach we went to so I certainly didn't want to swim.  There were a few surfers in wet suits and we saw a few people get in and then get right back out again.  Husband contemplated jumping in but decided to only wade in a little.

Husband took Little out into the surf and she loved it.  She even had fun when he dipped her toes into the water!

What a beautiful end to a fun day.

If you can't get out and hike, there are still fun ways to exercise with baby at home!
